FRIENDS OF ELLIS PRESENTS
VELVET ALLURE
Music is easy. Reading the room is the job.
Open-format DJ services, lighting production, crowd-driven music and event atmosphere for weddings, private parties, FoE Nightclub and special events.
The goal isn't to stand behind a booth and play a playlist. It's to help control the energy of the night.
TALK TO US ABOUT YOUR EVENT
A DJ SHOULD DO MORE THAN PRESS PLAY.
Anybody can build a playlist. A good event changes constantly. The music should change with it.
|
♫
READ THE ROOM
Watch the dance floor, see what people respond to, recognize when the energy is climbing, and know when it's time to change direction.
|
↔
MOVE BETWEEN GENRES
Pop, rock, hip-hop, country, alternative, dance, throwbacks, heavier music and everything between. The crowd decides where the night goes.
|
★
BUILD THE ROOM
Music is only part of the atmosphere. Lighting, movement and production help turn an ordinary room into somewhere people want to stay.
|
♥
MAKE IT YOURS
Your event should sound like your people, not somebody else's wedding playlist copied from the internet.
|
The playlist is a plan. The crowd gets the final vote.
Every event starts with preparation: music preferences, must-plays, do-not-plays, important moments and the kind of atmosphere you're trying to create.
But once people are in the room, the plan has to breathe.
If the dance floor wants 90s throwbacks, we go there. If everybody suddenly wants country, we deal with that too. If the room needs something heavier, dirtier, faster, slower or completely unexpected, that's the job.
The goal is the right song for the room, not the right song on paper.
WHAT KIND OF EVENTS?
If there's a room full of people and music matters, it's worth talking about.
|
01
WEDDINGS
Ceremony music, entrances, dinner atmosphere, first dances, special moments and the part where everybody finally gets onto the dance floor.
|
02
PRIVATE PARTIES
Birthdays, anniversaries, house parties, private events, celebrations and nights that deserve more than a Bluetooth speaker.
|
03
FoE & LIFESTYLE EVENTS
Nightclub events, hotel takeovers, campouts and private Lifestyle gatherings where the room can change dramatically throughout the night.
|
WEDDINGS ARE MORE THAN THE DANCE FLOOR.
The music starts before anybody starts dancing.
THE CEREMONY
Processional music, entrances, special moments and the song that sends you back down the aisle together.
THE ROOM
Cocktail hour and dinner need music too. Enough atmosphere to keep the room alive without making everybody shout over it.
THE MOMENTS THAT MATTER
Grand entrance. First dance. Parent dances. Toasts. Cake. Special requests. Whatever traditions matter to you and whichever ones you've decided to ignore.
THEN WE PARTY.
Once the formal stuff is done, the dance floor becomes its own event. That's when planning gives way to reading the crowd.
IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE A PARTY TOO.
Good lighting doesn't replace good music. It makes the music feel bigger.
Lighting moves with the room.
Dance-floor lighting, moving effects, color changes and programmed production can help move a room from relaxed to energetic without somebody ever saying a word.
We use lighting to support the event, not turn every room into a seizure-inducing middle-school dance.
Elegant when it needs to be. Loud when it earns it.
YES, YOU CAN REQUEST A SONG.
Requests are information. Sometimes they're also exactly what the room needed.
"Can you play something we can actually dance to?"
Tell us what you want.
A specific song? Great.
"More 90s." "Something heavier." "Can we get some country?" "Play something dirty." "We need a slow song."
Those requests tell us what at least part of the room wants. The trick is fitting them into the night without killing the floor for everybody else.
OPEN FORMAT MEANS OPEN FORMAT.
Not everybody at your event likes the same music. That's usually a good thing.
|
◉
THROWBACKS
70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s and the songs everybody somehow remembers every word to.
|
♫
POP & DANCE
Pop, club music, dance, EDM and the tracks that keep bodies moving.
|
⚡
ROCK & ALTERNATIVE
Classic rock, alternative, grunge, industrial and heavier music when the crowd wants some teeth.
|
◆
EVERYTHING ELSE
Hip-hop, R&B, country and whatever else your guests decide tonight needs.
|
BUILT ON A REAL DANCE FLOOR.
Velvet Allure isn't a DJ concept built in a bedroom. FoE Nightclub gives us a room full of people to experiment, learn and get better every time.
1,500 square feet of dance floor is a pretty good laboratory.
FoE Nightclub brings together a professional-style lighting setup, full dance-floor sound, a constantly changing crowd and several hours where the only real question is:
What does this room want next?
BEFORE THE FIRST SONG PLAYS.
A good night starts before anybody arrives.
|
01
TELL US ABOUT THE EVENT
Date, location, crowd, schedule, music preferences and what you want the room to feel like.
|
02
BUILD THE PLAN
Must-plays, do-not-plays, special moments, event flow and the music that gives us somewhere to start.
|
03
THEN READ THE ROOM
Once your guests arrive, the plan becomes a framework. The people in front of us tell us where to go from there.
|
WHAT ARE YOU ACTUALLY HIRING?
Not just somebody with a laptop.
DJ & MUSIC MANAGEMENT
Music preparation, live song selection, transitions, requests and management of the room's energy.
SOUND
Event-appropriate sound support based on the room, crowd and type of event.
LIGHTING
Lighting production may be available depending on the event, venue and desired setup.
EVENT FLOW
For events like weddings, music has to work around entrances, announcements, speeches, special dances and everything else happening in the room.
We don't want every event. We want the right events.
Venue size matters. Schedule matters. Travel matters. Equipment needs matter. Expectations matter.
Before we promise anything, we want to understand the event and make sure we're actually the right fit.
If we are?
Let's make the room move.
WHAT DOES YOUR NIGHT NEED TO SOUND LIKE?
Tell us about the room. We'll start with the music.
Wedding. Private party. Lifestyle event. Celebration. Something nobody has named yet.
Start the conversation.
